Sodom and Gomorrah

The accumulated filth of all their sex and murder will foam up about their waists and all the whores and politicians will look up and shout 'Save us!' And I'll look down, and whisper 'No.'

- The Watchmen

When the men got up to leave, they looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah. Abraham walked along with them to see their on their way.

Then the Lord said, "The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so grievous that I will go down and see if what they have done is as bad as the outcry that has reached me. If not, I will know."

Abraham remained standing before the Lord:
"Will you sweep away the righteous with the wicked? For you are the judge of all the earth. Far be it from you to do such a thing - to slaughter the wicked and righteous alike.

The Lord obliged Abraham's bet. The Lord said,
"If I find fifty righteous people in the city of Sodom, I will spare the whole the whole place
will
spare
the
whole
place
for
their
sake.

But upon realizing the insurmountable task of finding the righteous, Abraham bargained with God the final number that He has to find to spare the city.

"How about 45?'
The Lord obliged

"Then how about 40?"
The Lord obliged

"How about 30?"
The Lord obliged

"Will 20 do?"
The Lord obliged

When the Lord had finished speaking with Abraham, he left, and Abraham returned home.

The next day, the sun rose over Sodom and Gomorrah. The sun casted shadows across the land, bringing light to the weary eyed and the dawn of the last day of Sodom and Gomorrah. The Lord rained down burning sulfur on the city - from the Lord out of the heavens. Thus he overthrew those cities and the entire plain, including all those living in the cities - the wicked and righteous alike. Abraham looked down toward Sodom and Gomorrah, he saw dense smoking rising from the land, like smoke from a furnace.

The Lord from his almighty throne closed one of his eyes and held out his thumb in front of Soddom and Gomorrah, blotting out his once great creation.

To Him, there was
no hope, no salvation
no tears, no mourning
no day, no light, no morning
no glory, no faith, no people

Like a sarcastic thumbs up, He said fuck you to a city that told Him first to fuck off.

That was the day God
forsook the city and the
Son shone no longer.
