I awoke to the slit of sun that was emanating through my shades
I awoke to the thought of being lost.
I awoke at 4am.
then again at 6am
then again at 7am.
After being in a pseudo-hallucinogenic daze from last night's affairs - setting foot on foreign land after a 12 hr plane ride - it's a sobering realization when one is able to comprehend that one is truly "not in Kansas anymore." I still imagine that the bed I'm sleeping on presently is my bed at home, that is until I awake. I still imagine that the New Town Plaza in Sha Tin is Metro Town in Burnaby.......on an incredibly busy day.
I close my eyes and I'm transported back home - to familiarity, to my native tongue, to rooms that are much much much bigger.
It'll happen though; me adapting, embracing this new culture because in the end, home is where I lay my head each night and home is where I wake to start the day.
For now, HK is home.
