The only time that I can truly collect my thoughts
is when I should be sleeping.
At the other times in the day, this city grabs a hold of you
with dinner dates, group meetings, photoshoots, trip planning, etc.
When it's 2am and the courtyard below me is empty and my roommate is sleeping,
that's when I feel like it's most like Vancouver because let's be honest, at least in Burnaby,
there's not a whole lot happening past 10pm on Monday night
HK is cold. It's dropped to 15 degrees and I'm starting to wear a zipup over a sweatshirt with jeans.
I can't stand to think what I'll have to face when I'm back in Van with the snow and ice. I dropped close to 1750 HKD at H&M on jackets, sweaters, and blazers. Really though, I'm freezing.
Halloween in HK is insane and anyone who comes here to experience that...holiday(?) should go to LKF to just see the sheer amount of people that stream down to that seedy part of HK. We had to walk along the perimeter of LKF for a good thirty minutes before police and other security people would let us in into the district. We started our night in Wan Chai, but quickly made our way to LKF where we dropped more money to be on a terrace bar that overlooked the LKF underlings. I was Michael Jackson.
There was a failed attempt to go to Hanoi, Vietnam, followed by yet another failed attempt to go to Macau last week. But no worries(!!!!), we just booked a trip to Guilin (China) where Pandora (a la Avatar) takes much of its inspiration from. Type in Guilin on a Google image search and just be amazed by the mountainous landscape. We'll be visiting the Loungshan Rice Terrace and riding the Li River there. Think the Chinese version of Ha Long Bay in Vietnam. Pictures will be on fb.
I've never done so many presentations in one semester.
One after another, it's always the same layout.
I spout, the audience listens because I'm the novelty item - the one who looks Burmese, Thai, Philippino, Caucasian/Chinese mix (yes, I've gotten all of those from my stay here), but has an American accent.
The other kids spout and the class chatters away.
How is the weather in Vancouver?
