press conferences

I remember from reading of Thomas Edison's inventing process
that he did something that inspired me to this day.

Before unveiling his new ideas, he would gather
whoever he could scrounge up to hold a mini press conference
as to what his new idea was and how he was going to build it.

Some might find that pretentious, a little bit presumptuous, but for me,
I find that I do my best when I am accountable to others - just as the press conference
for Edison's new ideas were his people that he was accountable to.

If you have career aspirations, go and tell it to the world, not only
will you then be motivated to prove wrong the naysayers, but
who knows, the people in your hypothetical press conference
may have connections that can help you.

So here it goes, my public declaration.

My goal is to be a film talent agent in Hollywood.
