penance

as he told me to put my head down to pray,

the church trifled through my pockets and took my money away

hands folded, eyes clenched, knees bent

submission sent

they told me that prosperity was on the other side of this offering

that my cup from the Lord Jesus will be overflowing. 

what they didn't say was that the salvation was held ransom

by my two pence lump sum.
