i'm still trying to figure out how my title at FOX relates to what i do. my email signature states that i'm an assistant in the trade marketing and public relations department. whatever the hell that means, i don't know. even more confusing are all the seemingly random projects and tasks that i do.
i remember one night two weeks ago when i stayed at the office till 130am to bubble wrap cases of Vitamin Water and Evian Facial Spray to be shipped to Bali. the life of the assistant, the tasks are all over the place and the projects (seemingly) random, but it's just because i'm working the backstage and it's my bosses that see the show. maybe if i get to see the production, then it won't seem to random?? who knows.
so the projects that i've been involved in are:
- the UFC event in japan where i helped booked the the tickets and accommodations for the vip's of FOX
- helping market microsites for shows like Glee and NCIS
- putting together a hamper basket for the affiliates of FOX (companies such as CBS, HBO, NBC, Fremantle, etc.)
- marketing the FOX brand through trade events in Indonesia, Singapore, Malaysia, (all over the Asian Pacific theatre)
i'm sorry if this reads out like a LinkedIn profile - i promise you, i'm not trying to brag about my industrial aptitude. if there's anything that has opened the eyes of this low-key guy from Vancouver, it's that in this job, i'm doing tasks that i never would've dreamt of - everything from sourcing out Bacardi 151 in Indonesia to reading transcripts of an American Idol press conference in LA.
in the end, all the Vitamin Water/Evian Facial Spray was all bubble wrapped and the 151 was sourced in Hong Kong. work was tough that following morning cause this cycle just keeps on going on and on.
