I've been Mong Kok'd

Aside from learning the cuss words of my native tongue (my parents were careful enough to not indirectly teach me them), I've also learned some local slang.

For example!

Mong Kok - not the location, but as a way to describe someone's appearance (e.g.: "that dude's outfit is so Mong Kok"). Using MK to describe someone connotates a messy, not-well-put appearance that's in contrast to.....
*if anyone has seen my BC Driver's License, that'd be considered to look Mong Kok-ian like*

Central - aside from being a popular stop on the MTR metro system, using the word Central to describe someone insinuates that that person is high class, bourgeoisie, probably a banker with a Mercedes/Audi/BMW/Lexus, etc. The Central stop houses all the major couture name brand shops like Fendi, LV, Burberry, G/A so one can see how that term developed. Saying that one is TST (Tsim Sha Tsui), also a popular MTR stop that's close to Central, also connotates that same high class demeanor.

PK - to PK means to fall, but in a really bad way. That term is usually used as a curse phrase to somebody's enemy in hopes that they'll fall while crossing the street in busy traffic, meaning you want them to die.....publicly. With the thunder storms and typhoons that are hitting Hong Kong, I've nearly PK'd many times. Maybe someone is cursing me behind my back.

it's only 2.5 weeks so there'll definitely be more.

stay Central, fellow Vancouverites!
